Any suggestion on low maintenance ground cover around the raised beds
I am a big fan of Dymondia http://www.bewaterwise.com/Gardensoft/plant_description.aspx?PlantID=3283
I don’t know how it will do in your area, but it is drought tolerant and can be walked on without damage. It also has small yellow flowers in the spring.
Creeping thyme may work.
I am very interested in this topic, as the paths between our raised beds in our community garden are constantly a struggle. The wood chips that the electric company brings are either already full of or quickly become full of weed seeds and looks very messy and takes a lot of time to mow between our 48 beds!
One of the best covers I have used is over seeding with mache. It keeps weeds down, and is delicious in salads.
